Accountant Are you a detail-oriented and motivated individual eager to launch your accounting career in a dynamic municipal environment? As an entry-level accountant, you will assist with a wide range of accounting functions, including bookkeeping, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting senior staff. This is an on-site, in-person position based in Buffalo, New York.
Responsibilities: - Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports under the supervision of senior accountants.
- Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
- Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring proper documentation and timely processing.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as directed.
- Assist with external audits and internal financial reviews.
- Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and systems.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
Additional Requirements: - Must live in the City of Buffalo or be willing to relocate to the city within 6 months of accepting the role.
