Job Description

The Centralized Scheduler works directly with patients, physician offices, other hospital departments and facilities to ensure patients accurately scheduled for procedures in a timely manner. This position does not directly supervise any other caregivers. Accountable for a high degree of accuracy by Pre-registering the patient; collects patient demographics, insurance information and collects required co-pay/deposits. Accurately schedules patient procedures and appointments by entering the services as ordered by the patient’s physician or authorized designee. Prioritizes work based upon level of urgency and reviews order to ensure all details and necessary information for the procedure is entered prior to service. Demonstrates excellent customer service, ensuring all patient calls are handled in a professional and expedient fashion, required to meet department standards for handling calls. Works in a team environment by contributing toward team standards and productivity goals by helping identify areas for improvement. Promote excellent customer service with physician offices and patients. Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects. Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests. Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate. May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned. Required education: High school diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher. Required experience: Previous customer service experience in a high volume fast paced environment. Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. Previous experience handling a large volume of incoming calls. Preferred experience: Previous experience in a hospital/physician setting. 1 – 2 years of scheduling experience in a Call Center environment. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely. Physical requirements include frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting 1-10 pounds, keyboard operation, and operation of motor vehicle. The position is scheduled for 40 hours weekly, Monday-Friday, first shift.
