Summary/Objective

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Chemical Engineer to lead major capital improvement initiatives across our St. Louis manufacturing facilities. This role will serve as the primary project manager responsible for executing $15–$20 million in plant modifications over the next 18 months. This is a high-impact role with potential to transition into Manager of Maintenance and Engineering upon successful project completion.

Five Must-Haves :

  • Oversee installation of major process equipment including high-pressure reactors, hot oil systems, chillers, cooling towers, and automation systems.
  • Manage external contractors, equipment suppliers, and construction timelines to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Track and control project budgets, schedules, installation logistics, and safety protocols.
  • Develop deep knowledge of Chemline’s plant layout, processes, and operational systems to ensure seamless integration of upgrades.

Other Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate with internal teams across operations, maintenance, and EH&S to minimize downtime and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor equipment lead times and manage order tracking and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and provide regular status updates to senior leadership.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and start-up of new equipment and systems.
  • Upon completion of capital projects, assume leadership of the Maintenance and Engineering departments.

Skills and Competencies :

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-million-dollar plant projects from planning through execution.
  • Exceptional knowledge of chemical plant infrastructure, process systems, and utilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and trades.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling software, and project management tools.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in an industrial environment with active construction.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (required).
  • 7–15 years of progressive experience in chemical plant engineering or capital project management.
  • Previous leadership or management experience in maintenance or engineering functions strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
