Greenwood Dairy, a progressive 1,600-cow dairy located in Canton, NY, is seeking a motivated and experienced Livestock and Facilities Operations Manager (Herd/Barn Manager) to oversee daily herd care and facility operations. This leadership position is responsible for managing cow and young-stock health, supervising barn staff, and ensuring optimal productivity and animal welfare.

*Key Responsibilities:Herd Management:*

* Manage daily routines for milking, calving, feeding, and youngstock care.
* Monitor animal health and implement treatment protocols in collaboration with veterinary staff.
* Oversee reproduction management.
* Maintain accurate records using DairyComp 305; experience with SCR monitoring systems preferred.

*Labor and Team Management:*

* Supervise and schedule daily activities of milking and animal care teams.
* Train and mentor employees on animal care standards, protocols, and equipment use.
* Foster a team-oriented work environment with clear expectations and accountability.
* Spanish language skills are a plus to facilitate communication with diverse staff.

*Facility Oversight:*

* Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of the milking parlor, stalls, and barn infrastructure.
* Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment (e.g., Parlor, fans, waterers).
* Monitor cow comfort factors such as ventilation and bedding.

*Production Monitoring and Reporting:*

* Track herd performance, milk production, health events, and other key metrics.
* Collaborate with nutritionists, veterinarians, and management to drive improvements.
* Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.

*Qualifications:*

* 3+ years of experience in dairy herd and facility management.
* Proficiency in DairyComp 305; experience with SCR systems a strong plus.
* Demonstrated supervisory and communication skills.
* Strong work ethic, organizational ability, and problem-solving mindset.
* Spanish-speaking ability is preferred but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
