Data Center Engineer - Chicago Area

We're looking for a skilled and proactive Data Center Engineer to join our Chicago-based team. This role involves hands-on work with physical IT infrastructure across multiple local facilities. You'll play a key part in maintaining and optimizing hardware systems that support high-performance computing environments.

This position offers a dynamic blend of technical challenges and operational responsibilities, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, precision-driven settings.

Your Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain physical IT infrastructure, including servers and networking equipment, throughout their operational lifecycle
• Perform setup, configuration, and routine maintenance across diverse technical environments
• Develop and execute structured plans for equipment placement and cabling to support operational efficiency
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues, coordinating with external vendors when necessary
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and infrastructure documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure reliable and efficient system performance
• Provide support for local office technology and contribute to broader infrastructure stability

What You Bring:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in infrastructure or data center operations
• Deep understanding of server architecture, networking hardware, and storage technologies
• Familiarity with structured cabling, fiber optics, and diagnostic tools
• Working knowledge of Linux systems and networking fundamentals; scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python) is a plus
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
• Comfortable handling physical equipment and traveling between local sites as needed
• Must possess a valid driver's license
