What You Will Do

We seek a highly talented and motivated Post Baccalaureate researcher with a strong background in chemical synthesis, especially nanomaterials synthesis, to join our cutting-edge team focused on the discovery, synthesis, and application of functional nanomaterials. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the forefront of chemical synthesis and nanotechnology.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing new colloidal nanomaterials with advanced optical properties. In particular, they will conduct synthesis, surface functionalization and characterization of semiconductor quantum dots and related optical nanomaterials. This role is ideal for recent graduates who are passionate about laboratory research and eager to contribute to a collaborative and fast-paced scientific environment.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Strong chemical synthesis skills using air-sensitive handling techniques, such as Schlenk line and glovebox operations
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively execute new laboratory skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to grow as a researcher and make significant contributions to ongoing research programs

Education/Experience: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with an emphasis on inorganic, organic or materials chemistry, completed within the last 3 years and a 2.75 cumulative GPA.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong chemical synthesis skills applied to nanocrystal synthesis
  • Direct experience with colloidal synthesis and characterization of semiconductor quantum dots, nanorods, nanoplatelets or nanowires
  • Experience with nanocrystal self-assembly
  • Experience with optical and structural characterization techniques
  • Experience with planning and executing of complex, multistep reactions
