PUBLIC SERVICES LIBRARIAN
The Town of Mashpee Public Library welcomes applications for a full time Public Services Librarian; $28.54/hour - $30.28/hour commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position works 37.5 hours/week between the Library’s operating hours of 9:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Saturday. The schedule involves regular weekday, evening and weekend shifts.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in library science (MLS/MLIS) is required; at least one year professional experience working in a public library providing direct customer service in person, via telephone and/or electronically via email is preferred; may consider MLS/MLIS candidates with significant progress toward completion of the degree and general public library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have excellent customer service, computer, and communication skills. Must possess a valid MA driver’s license (Class D). Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
Responsibilities: Provides professional library services, and ensures the delivery of quality materials, services, and programs for library patrons. Performs duties in the areas of public services, outreach, collection development, programming, technology support, and other duties needed to provide core library services primarily for adults. Coordinates the operation and activities of the adult public service desk; trains, supervises and evaluates staff as assigned. Creates a climate of friendly and efficient customer service and responds to and resolves patron requests and inquiries.
