Job Description
Overview:
We are currently seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Scale Operator to join our team. This position plays a key role in the daily operations by purchasing materials, accurately weighing and recording loads, and handling customer payouts. If you have strong customer service skills, basic math abilities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
Weigh incoming loads of material using industrial scales
Inspect, categorize, and price materials according to company guidelines
Enter transaction details into the point-of-sale system accurately
Communicate clearly with customers regarding weight, grade, and value of materials
Issue payments promptly and accurately based on the materials received
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the scale house and work area
Provide excellent customer service and represent the company in a professional manner
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in a similar role or materials/recycling yard preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable using computers and point-of-sale systems
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Must be dependable and punctual
