Job Title: PSNS- Sheet Metal Mechanic (Travelers are welcome) Pay: $32/hr + $178/hr per diem

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in shipyards or with Navy projects, and will be responsible for ensuring all safety and quality standards are met while performing sheet metal construction, installation, and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure tank/compartment has a valid safe for hot work ticket and all requirements are met, including ventilation, lighting, and safety equipment.
• Verify conditions of the tank/compartment are unchanged since the ticket was issued, maintaining a safe working environment.
• Ensure a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is posted at the job site for the specific task being completed, as no work is permitted without it.
• Comply with safety issues specific to the job, including special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work, and breathing apparatus with correct cartridges.
• Confirm training and qualifications for assigned tasks, such as JLG, forklift, welding, brazing, and special electrical/mechanical repairs.
• Lead personnel to work safely and productively, ensuring quality control at all times.
• Leave the job site in a safe and clean condition upon departure.
• Understand mechanical drawings to layout, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products related to shipboard construction, HVAC, and habitability.
• Have knowledge of various metal types and sizes.
• Assist in assembling ventilation runs in accordance with drawings, specifications, and Navy shipboard standard detail requirements.
• Possess basic knowledge of habitability layout and installation, including MJB, MJ doors, berthing's, galleys, and office outfitting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bremerton, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $31.00/hr.
