Job Description

Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.

A rewarding opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. This contract position is designed for an educator passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of students with special needs, spanning from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Location: Woodbridge, VA
Duration: July 1 August 1 (including prep days on July 1, 2, and a half-day on July 3)
Hours: 5 to 5.5 hours per day, depending on grade level (elementary students require 5 hours; secondary students require 5.5 hours)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of diverse learners from K-12.
  • Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and materials to support the ESY curriculum.
  • Collaborate with related service providers, families, and staff to enhance student success during the summer program.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Participate in designated prep days to plan and organize effective lessons.

Qualifications:

  • Active Virginia Special Education teaching license is required.
  • Experience working with students across elementary and secondary grade levels is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Ability to provide personalized, supportive, and engaging instruction that meets the academic and social needs of students with disabilities.
