Schedules surgeries, coordinates with patients, physicians, and hospital staff to ensure efficient and timely surgical procedures. Responsible for the coordination of the surgical and speech fellowship program with the department. Required to travel to the Westerville offsite location with the Chief. Essential functions include scheduling surgeries by coordinating with patients, physicians, and other medical staff; confirming patient eligibility for surgery by reviewing medical records and insurance coverage; coordinating pre-operative testing and medical clearance for patients; ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available for the scheduled surgeries; communicating any changes in the surgical schedule to all relevant parties; maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all scheduled surgeries and related information. Education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent. Skills required include knowledge of filing, word processing, spreadsheet, medical terminology, coding, and office skills, excellent customer service skills, and interpersonal skills. Experience required: Two years of medical secretary experience, surgical scheduling experience preferred. Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying 0-10 lbs, standing, walking, and continuous use of computer skills, decision making, hand use, hearing acuity, problem solving, and seeing.
